Schools out but reading is still in.

A break from the books can mean big losses for at-risk students. In fact, every summer, low-income youth lose two to three months in reading while their higher-income peers make gains. Our goal is to bridge this achievement gap. In 2016, we united with several partners across the city of Alexandria to promote Beauticians, Barbers and Books. This new literacy initiative encourages children to continue reading throughout the summer.
